Resilience: “I Think I Can”
1. A long red train said, “I think I can, I can,”
And he chugged right to the top.
2. A big black spider said, “I think I can, I can,”
When the web was spun she did stop.
3. A fluffy cloud said, “I think I can, I can,”
And the rain began to drop.
4. A little kid said, “I think I can, I can,”
And he pedaled, pedaled, pedaled to the shop.
5. A busy farmer said, “I think I can, I can, I can,”
And he pulled the weeds from his crop.
6. A big brown bunny said, “I think I can, I can,”
And she went hop, hop, hippity hop.
7. A piece of corn said, “I think I can, I can,”
And he finally went “pop.”

This light-hearted, rhyming song is inspired by Watty Piper’s 1930 version of the famous tale of "The Little Engine that Could.” It illustrates persistance, which is a prerequisite for resilience: we keep working toward our goals while facing obstacles and resistance.
Piper’s book is a lovely introduction to this topic.
