A. “Tic-Tac-Toe”

Tic-tac-toe, tic-tac-toe,
I put X and you put O.
Tic-tac-toe, tic-tac-toe,
Think about where it should go.
Tic-tac-toe, tic-tac-toe,
I put X and you put O.

B. “Zoo”

Before I go to the Zoo
I know what I’m going to do:
Brush my teeth, wash my face,
    and comb my hair!

And when I get to the Zoo
I know what I’m going to do:
See a lion and a tiger
    and a bear!

When I get home from the Zoo
I know what I’m going to do:
Have a snack and take a nap
    in my chair!

Tic Tac Toe
Zoo

Making connections:

Tic-Tac-Toe
before approaching the text of the song, play the game.
Be sure the children say X or O every time they fill a square.
Talk about predicting what might happen
depending on where they place the X or O

In this song we also explore the concepts of loud and soft .

A Day at the Zoo
Ask questions about different activities (playing soccer, going swimming, etc.)
to illustrate the idea of planning before, during, and after the activity:
“What things do you need to do before playing soccer or going swimming?”
“What will happen when you are there?”
“What do you need to do after the activity?”

Ask the children to draw a set of three pictures (before, during, after) for an activity.

apple triptych

Here “thoughtfulness” is understood as using our thinking skills to solve problems or to think ahead in order to plan events. In the game of “Tic-Tac-Toe” a child needs to predict consequences by placing his or her X or O in a partiular square. “Before I go to the Zoo” teaches us that we can plan future events.
